
David Chapman,
Ph. D., P.E. Civil Engineering

David Chapman is a native of Knoxville, TN by way of Ashville, NC.
He returned to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee in
1998, and has since earned a Bachelors of Science of Civil
Engineering, a Master’s of Science of Civil Engineering with
Construction Engineering Concentration, and a Doctor of Philosophy
in Civil Engineering with Construction Engineering Concentration.
Dr. Chapman has taught construction related courses at the graduate
and undergraduate level at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Chapman
has been involved with several TDOT (Tennessee Department of
Transportation) sponsored research projects. Most recently Dr.
Chapman managed the research efforts concerning the Massman Dr.
Bridge in Nashville, TN.
At an early age, Dr. Chapman was employed by a home builder as a
laborer and
a carpenter. He has since worked for Taylor and Murphy Construction
Company
in Ashville, and Jones Bros / Britton Bridge in Knoxville. David has
also managed
the restoration and reconstruction of a large Victorian era home in
the Fort
Sanders area of Knoxville, and has provided contract administration
services on a
Historic reuse / condominium conversion project in Nashville, TN.
Since 2005 David
has created and / or maintained CPM schedules for approximately $550
million
worth of highway and heavy civil construction projects. Dr.
Chapman’s primary
contribution to Construction Engineering Consultants is creating and
maintaining
schedules for highway construction type projects, forensic
scheduling and
engineering related to litigation support services.
